At one herd with 300 production animals. Farmer purchased 100 heifers. All mature cows and heifers were under same formalin foot bath routine but only heifers shown lesions. Using 16% - 20% formalin daily foot bath at parlor exit. End of summer, high ambiance temperature. Mature cows were milked before. It's to supose that formalin concentration was lower at the time of heifers barn milking. But most heifers were severely lame with the lesions described and no one mature cow shown symptoms. I presume that skin gets progressively made to the formalin efect
